Ricinoleic Acid Percentage
This is the signature fatty acid that gives Castor Oil its unique properties. For cosmetic-grade Castor Oil, a ricinoleic acid content of 80–90% is considered high quality.
In contrast, USP (United States Pharmacopeia) oral-grade Castor Oil must meet stricter standards, typically ranging between 85–92%, to ensure consistency, purity, and suitability for its intended use. A higher ricinoleic acid percentage is often associated with a higher-quality oil, based on current manufacturing and purity benchmarks.
