Use #6 is our favorite!
Have you been curious about how you can use Castor Oil and/or Castor Oil Packs? Maybe you’ve been told to give them a try from your practitioner but would love to know more.
You see, Castor Oil Packs are a legendary practice that dates back to ancient times. Traditional Chinese medicine, Indian Ayurveda, Ancient Egyptians, and Mediterraneans all used Castor Oil for its rejuvenating health and beauty benefits. Amazing, agreed?
The castor bean plant has even been given the special name of the ‘Palm of Christ’, as Castor Oil is mentioned in the Bible as an anointing oil.
Plus, Castor Oil on its own or on a Castor Oil Pack (more on Castor Oil Packs soon), has been called an absolute game-changer by many who have used them.
Would you love to know 3 tried & true Castor Oil Pack protocols used by practitioners so you can restore your body from the inside out?
But, you might be wondering, “what are the best uses of this oil?” Well, you’re in the right place because this blog will uncover the 7 best uses of Castor Oil (supported by science). You’ll see why and how the topical use of Castor Oil may be your new go-to for your natural wellness routine.
Are you ready?
One of the first and most important functions is that…
#1. Castor Oil supports lymphatic drainage
Did you know that your lymphatic system plays a crucial role in fighting against infections and balancing your fluid levels?
And when your lymphatic system is clogged, like your hair-filled shower drain, your body can’t cleanse properly and you might feel lethargic because your body’s fluids are unbalanced.
This also means you might have too much harmful bacteria, making you feel like you just came off the tilt-o-whirl. Does this sound like you?
So, where does Castor Oil come into play? Well, when applied topically on your skin, Castor Oil works its way into your tissues and stimulates lymphatic drainage via the Peyer’s patches1, a small group of lymphatic tissues.

You can further enhance the effect of Castor Oil with a Castor Oil Liver Pack. The compression of the Pack placed over your liver area (over your right rib cage), combined with the movement of your breathing muscles, acts like a pump for your lymphatic system, encouraging lymphatic drainage.2
Plus, you can also enhance lymphatic flow by simply adding a Lymphatic Lymphatic Dry Brush to accompany your Castor Oil Pack practice so you can…
- Reduce inflammation that’s taking up space in your body.
- Increase circulation so you can truly reconnect to your body.
- Engage your lymphatic system and organs to help your body cleanse naturally.
Amazing, right?!
Another wonderful use for Castor Oil is…
#2. Using it as an anti-aging tool
These nutrients have anti-aging5 properties that reduce wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness under the eyes. Sounds wonderful, agreed?
So, you can use a Castor Oil Eye Compress as a vehicle for your Castor Oil to work its anti-aging magic. Plus, the Eye Compress stimulates both the circulatory and lymphatic systems.
Bonus tip: You can also use Castor Oil as an eye makeup remover and a gentle moisturizer.
So, that brings us to our next use for Castor Oil. Are you ready?
#3. You can use Castor Oil for thicker eyelashes and brows
Various factors like stress, bacterial growth, immune reactions, thyroid and hormonal imbalances can cause thinning of eyebrows and eyelashes. Can you relate?
So, regular use of a Castor Oil Eye Compress (while you sleep) can nourish the hair follicles and enhance circulation6. All you need to do is apply Castor Oil to your lashes and brows, and your Eye Compress helps keep the oil from rubbing off. Makes sense, right?
Plus, wearing an Eye Compress7,8,9 to bed helps to naturally balance your sleep hormone, melatonin10,11, so you can sleep deeper. Would you love that?

So what’s next?
#4. Castor Oil also helps naturally manage inflammation
You may have heard that Castor Oil can be used as a natural anti-inflammatory for your bowels, right? Have you also heard that it can be helpful for inflammation during your period and for inflammation in general?
But how does it work? Well, Castor Oil stimulates the smooth muscles12 of the digestive tract as well as the uterus.
Have you noticed that you poo more often before and during your period? That’s because the same hormones and messengers of the body stimulate your digestive tract to move and your uterus to expel the blood.13
By acting on your smooth muscles, Castor Oil Packs can even help with your cramping.
While we’re on the subject of pain, it’s important to discuss another common cause of pain — inflammation, which can be found all over your body in varying degrees.
Castor Oil Packs are wonderful, natural tools for inflammatory pain.
You see, the unique active component of Castor Oil — ricinoleic acid — is an anti-inflammatory14 and analgesic (pain reliever)15 agent. So, that paired with the gentle compression of your Castor Oil Pack works together so the Castor Oil can permeate deeper into your skin.

Are you wondering how exactly Castor Oil Packs work and if you can get the same anti-inflammatory benefits from just rubbing Castor Oil on your liver/abdomen? Find out everything you need to know in this blog post.
The best part? Castor Oil not only fights inflammation but also…
#5. Fights unhealthy bacteria and promotes healthy bacteria
You see, a balance between healthy and harmful bacteria is crucial for your skin and scalp health.
So, when applied to the skin, scalp, and mucus membrane, Castor Oil can help to support a healthy microbiome.16,17,18,19
Cleansing your skin with Castor Oil can help balance the bacteria propionibacterium acne,20 which can cause skin breakouts.
When you use Castor Oil on your scalp, it can naturally balance the microbiome of the scalp and may help reduce inflammation of hair follicles and dandruff relief. Amazing, agreed?
And, now, it’s time for our favorite use of Castor Oil. Ready?
#6. Castor Oil + a Castor Oil Pack supports constipation relief
Your digestive system is much more complicated than just the food you eat because your gut is also highly regulated via hormonal and nervous system pathways. In fact, your gut is known as the second brain.
But why? Because it relies on the brain to tell it what to do and is the only organ that can work independently.
This means you could take it out of the body and it’d function entirely on its own. This system is called the enteric nervous system, which dictates what goes on in the gut. How interesting is that!
But, there are only a few ways to engage the gut’s action. The easiest is the tried and true Castor Oil Liver Pack.
Studies have shown that Castor Oil Pack over the liver helps to relieve constipation and improves the smooth muscle function of the digestive tract.21 This allows you to get rid of all the junk in your digestive system and start having regular healthy bowel movements. Sounds wonderful, agreed?
Traditionally, Castor Oil has been recommended by pharmacists to be taken orally as a strong stimulant laxative.21,22
However, Castor Oil Packs have been shown to be just as effective and better tolerated for relieving constipation when applied topically as a gentle Castor Oil Pack, compared to conventional laxatives.
The cherry on top? Castor Oil Packs can also reduce stress23,24,25,26 and support balanced hormones, similar to a weighted blanket, which brings us to the last best use of Castor Oil…
#7. The topical use of Castor Oil supports natural hormone balancing
Do you find it difficult to sleep, feel tired, or have digestion problems?
If yes, it’s likely you have higher stress levels, which ultimately affects your hormones.
The soft compression of your Castor Oil Packs on your skin calms your entire system and stimulates the release of feel-good “love and connection” hormones so you can naturally promote the production of our feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine25, as well as our love and connection hormone, oxytocin.23

Plus, oxytocin also lowers cortisol (your stress hormone) and balances blood pressure,27 leading to healthy levels of progesterone.
Why does this matter? Well, studies show a connection between higher anxiety levels and high progesterone levels.28
But remember, rest and relaxation take practice when you use Castor Oil consistently. The best part? Your Castor Oil Pack gives your body a chance to practice over and over again, so be gentle with yourself.
Especially in this case. The Castor Oil and the material placed against your skin should always be of great quality.
Your checklist for good quality Castor Oil (like Queen of the Thrones®):

So, you see not just Castor Oil, but the Castor Oil Pack is a tried and true self-care tool with anti-aging qualities for both health and beauty since the beginning of humanity.

Curious about deep scar tissue such as vocal chords from radiation or C-section? I’ve heard Castor Oil can dissolve scar tissue. Is that true?
Hey there, thank you so much for reaching out! Castor oil has traditionally been used to improve and break down scar tissue, and many people use it for scars from surgeries. Castor oil also supports better lymphatic flow and balanced inflammation in the area. I hope this helps!
How often do you use the packs?
Great question! We want to add this into our daily routine!
Does it need to be refrigerated?I live in a hot humid place.
No, it is best stored at room temperature and just making sure it is out of direct sunlight!
What side of that pack do you use ? The smooth one or that cloth side
Great question! We want to have the soft side touching our skin, the shiny side with tag is the outer layer.
Hi there! Can I just rub castor oil on my stomach/breast area at night? Do I need a pack? Also, should I test a small area first to make sure I don’t have an allergic reaction or sensitivity?
Thank you!
Rubbing the oil onto the skin without wearing the pack will nourish the skin, but you’re only getting half the benefits! Using the oil and pack together is what puts the body into a relaxed state so that you can heal, poop better, sleep better and stress less!
Hello! Where does the product grow? Where do the castor seeds grow and get harvested ?
Our oil is currently sourced from India.
Can I use this Castor oil if I have Lichen Sclerosis in the Genitalia area and if so how do I use it effectively
Hey there,
Thank you so much for reaching out!
Castor oil packs are safe and supportive of all conditions, there are no known contraindications (except for pregnancy).
We haven’t found any specific research on using castor oil for this specific issue yet, but wearing a castor oil pack over the liver may still be beneficial.
The foundation of the castor oil pack practice is to aid the body in overall wellness. It relaxes and calms, it may reduce inflammation, and so much more that helps so many processes that take place within our bodies every day. Everything is connected!
Be sure to place it over your liver, (the right side of your body, just below the rib cage) as this is the place where so many functions occur!
I’ve been applying castor oil directly on my face and body as my moisturizer DAILY. Is this too much? Should I be blending it with something?
Yes you can apply castor oil to the face, when doing this just make sure to use a small amount (pea size).
Can you use castor oil on dogs
Unfortunately we haven’t come across any research on using Castor Oil Packs on animals (yet!) but it’s possible they may work similarly as they do for humans, by moving the body into a relaxed state via compression of the pack and supporting inflammation balance via the ricinoleic acid in Castor Oil. When the body is relaxed and inflammation is balanced, natural wellness and elimination functions are supported.
If ingested, Castor Oil may also be a laxative for animals, so it’s important that dogs don’t lick it.
Please always reach out to your veterinarian before starting any new practice with your animals. This is not medical advice and is not intended to treat, cure, prevent or diagnose any disease. This is for educational purposes only. Results vary.
Love castor oil. I’ve been using on my toe nails and it’s start starting to heal them! I use as a moisturizer and my skin is starting to look healthy . I believe it’s starting to take care of cellulite. I’m 71 yrs old and I’m looking to not look old at 71.
This is amazing! Keep up the great work you are doing.
The oil is so thick. What is the best way to blend it onto the skin? I feel like I do a lot of tugging. Thank you.
Hey! Great question, castor oil is a very thick oil!
I find the best way when applying it as a moisturizer to the skin is to use a small amount to start, you can always add more but you can’t take away! I hope this helps.
Can Castor oil help with Cataracts and how do you use it/ heard about applying it on the eyelids at night/. Thank You
Thanks for reaching out! You can use castor oil in/around the eyes, and is actually used in the treatment of dry eyes as seen in Meibomian gland dysfunction, and may be preventative of cataracts. This can be done with clean fingers and pushing 1-2 drops in the inner corner of your eye or with a glass eye drpper. Here are some studies/articles if you want to learn more:

Is it ok to take Castor Oil orally for constipation
Our castor oil is 100% pure, certified organic, hexane-free, extra virgin and food grade. Traditionally castor oil has been taken orally as a stimulant laxative, though we don’t recommend using it this way as it can create a harsh urgency to run to the washroom. We much prefer the castor oil pack as a very gentle yet effective way to regulate bowel movements.
I haven’t had a period for 2 years. I used the caster oil pack for the first time last night, only for a few hours. Today I had one little spot of blood in my underwear, I am wondering if there could be a connection and if this is possibly normal?
Hey there! The Castor Oil Pack helps the body relax, detox, cleanse and release that which it no longer needs. It’s not uncommon when you’re starting out to notice mild changes in bowel movements, menstruation, acne and even body odour, as these are all elimination pathways for cleansing. Regular Castor Oil Packs support balanced hormones and many report that their monthly periods become more regular with consistent use.
What about helping decrease PMS symptoms?
Great question. Although we cannot comment on your case specifically. Castor oil packs balance the regulatory systems of hormonal, immune and nervous systems, so whatever condition (other than pregnancy) you’re presenting with castor oil packs can be foundational! The best place to start is our liver, as this is considered the HUB of healing of our bodies.
I read that I need to buy a new pack every 2 months is that really true? Do they wear out?
These are not forever packs, we do want to replace our packs every 2-3 months for sanitary reasons.
Hi my husband has had a lot of issues with back pain, had a fusion done on L5, as well as had a pain stimulator installed this last spring. Nothing has helped. Is Castor Oil safe to use on his back?
Hey there! Although we cannot comment on your case specifically – Castor oil liver packs are supportive of all conditions and have not been shown to be contraindicated with any medications or health conditions (aside from pregnancy!). They may help support circulation to the liver, reduce inflammation and move the body into a relaxed state
If castor oil can break down foreign things in the body can it be used if having rotator cuff repair, or having a pain stimulator in the back?
Will the oil break down the items places in the body to help heal?
Great question. Although we cannot comment on your case specifically. Castor oil packs balance the regulatory systems of hormonal, immune and nervous systems, so whatever condition (other than pregnancy) you’re presenting with castor oil packs can be foundational!
Please always check with your doctor if any new practice is right for you. This is not medical advice. This is not intended to treat, cure, prevent or diagnose any disease. This is for educational purposes only. Results vary.
I have purchased a bottle of queen of the thrones golden castor oil I am interested in making packs can you help me with this Thank You
If you are trying to make a DIY pack make sure to use an organic cotton flannel, you will also need to add your own heat source.
This can be messy.
Can castor oil packs be used simultaneously on multiple areas?? Thanks.
Hey there! Yes you can use multiple packs for different areas, we just want to make sure we are not using the same pack for different areas.
Why can’t you use the same pack in different areas? If low back pain is that where you put pack ? Or just around liver for all issues?
Hey there, thank you for reaching out! We do not want to use the same pack on multiple areas due to potential toxin transfer.
Is your castor oil different from the Jamaican castor oil?
How much oil should I use for my thyroid and my liver?
Do I use the packs every night?
Yes ours is a organic, hexane free, golden castor oil which is ideal when using castor oil packs!
You will be using 1Tsp with the thyroid and 1T for the liver!
Yes you want to add this into your daily routine.
What does castor oil do for the hair follicles?
Hey there! Although we cannot comment on your case specifically, indeed you may find castor oil helpful – When used topically on the area it may provide the hair with valuable antioxidants and nourishing agents such as omega 3, 6, 9 and vitamin E. It also may help to stimulate circulation to the hair follicle via the promotion of nitric oxide that opens the blood vessels and promotes growth!
How can I wash the pack ? How often i have wash and clean it?
Hey there! Your goal is to not wash the pack once you have started using it, as washing may cause the oil to get all over the outer “less mess” layer of the pack, making it messier and decreasing its natural lifecycle.
Here are some great tips to extend the life of your pack:
– Use 1 tbsp of fresh Castor Oil with each use
– Keep the Castor Oil in the center of the pack (away from the seams)
– Avoid washing your oily pack
Remember, it’s unknown whether or not substances are absorbed into your pack, so it’s important to always use fresh oil and replace your pack regularly (a good rule of thumb is to replace it every 2 months if you’re using it daily!)
If you DO want to try washing your oily pack here is a great video for you!
