WHY WHAT IS IN THE BOTTLE MATTERS

Not all Castor Oil is created equal.

Explore practical guidance and expert advice to help you feel confident at every step.

When it comes to what you put on your skin, quality matters. From how Castor Oil is grown and extracted to how it's tested, stored, and bottled, every step plays a role in the quality of the oil you bring into your daily ritual.

Not all Castor Oils are produced the same way. Some are extracted using chemical solvents, packaged in plastic, or sold without independent third-party testing. That's why knowing what goes into your bottle, and how it gets there, is so important.

At Queen of the Thrones®, we believe your Castor Oil should be as intentional as the ritual itself. That's why ours is:

Your ritual starts with what's in the bottle, so we start with the strictest standard there is. Our castor oil is certified USDA Organic, grown without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Pure enough to become part of your daily practice, because what you pour on your skin every day should be held to a higher bar.

Our Test and Certificates:

Phthalates Certificates

✓ Result: Not Detected (ND) for all major phthalates, including DEHP, DBP, DINP, DCHP, and others.

What this means for you: Your Castor Oil has been tested for common phthalates, chemicals often associated with plastics and certain manufacturing processes. None of the phthalates tested were detected, giving you greater confidence in the quality of the oil you're applying to your skin.

Heavy Metals Report

✓ Result: Below detection limits for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury — fully compliant with safety thresholds.

What this means for you: Heavy metals can occur naturally in the environment, including soil where plants grow. Our testing checks for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury, with results below the laboratory's detection limits. It's another way we help ensure your Castor Oil meets our quality standards.

Residual Solvents Report

✓ Result: Compliant for all Class 1, 2, and 3 solvents under USP <467> — no concerning levels detected.

What this means for you: Some oils are extracted or processed using chemical solvents that can leave behind residues. Our testing confirms that your Castor Oil meets established standards for residual solvents, so you can feel confident about the care taken in producing your oil.

Fatty Acid (FAMEs) Profile

✓ Result: Ricinoleic acid measured at ~84.8% (target 85–92%), with balanced supporting fatty acids — slightly below USP spec but consistent with high-quality performance.

What this means for you: Ricinoleic acid is the naturally occurring fatty acid that makes Castor Oil unique and gives it its rich, moisturizing properties. Our testing confirms that it makes up approximately 84.8% of the oil, helping you understand the natural composition and quality of what's inside your bottle.

Microbial & Stability Safety

✓ Microbial Suitability:
Passed USP methods for detecting pathogens (C. albicans, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, E. coli).

✓ Microbiological Contamination:
<10 cfu/g total microbial count — very clean.

✓ Water Activity:
0.18 — too low to support microbial growth; no preservatives needed.

✓ 12-Week Stability:
No significant change in odor, color, weight, or appearance under accelerated storage.

What this means for you: We test our Castor Oil for harmful microorganisms, overall microbial cleanliness, moisture availability, and stability over time. The results show very low microbial levels, no detected growth of the specific pathogens tested, and no significant changes during accelerated stability testing. This helps give you confidence that your Castor Oil has been carefully evaluated for quality, cleanliness, and stability, without the need for added preservatives.

Additional Tests (Shared for Full Transparency)

These tests are primarily for EU/UK compliance, but we share them here to give you the full picture.ead, and mercury — fully compliant with safety thresholds.

✓ Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR): Confirms safety under EU Regulation 1223/2009.

✓ ISO 11930 Antimicrobial Protection Tests: Designed for water-based products; non-conformance is expected and acceptable for a pure oil.

What this means for you: Your Castor Oil has undergone a formal cosmetic safety assessment based on European Union standards. This review evaluates the product's ingredients, composition, and intended use to help confirm it meets established cosmetic safety requirements. It's another layer of reassurance that quality and safety are taken seriously.
