I don’t know about you, but the phrase ‘my hormones are out of whack’ came out of my mouth more than I’d like to admit. Growing up, I heard women in my life say this when they were entering menopause, but by the time I was 25, I uttered those words along with them. Can you relate?

Even though I wasn’t actually experiencing menopause, I was experiencing estrogen dominance. I felt disconnected from my own body. As heart-wrenching and stressful as this time was, it was also my saving grace. It was what propelled me to try Castor Oil Packs- the key to balancing my hormones and freedom from:

 • Super irregular periods

 • Trouble sleeping

 • Alternating between constipation and diarrhea

 • Hair growth on my chin and upper lip

 • Hot flashes (power surges, as I like to call them)

Does this sound like you? I’ve been there too, I get it. After several appointments and sleepless nights, I was diagnosed with IBS, PCOS, and Hypothyroid. Looking back, it makes sense because estrogen dominance is always present when the thyroid is low, or vice versa.

My doctor also told me I likely wouldn’t be able to have babies. Up until then I never thought very hard about having babies before; but having it suddenly taken away from me was my wake-up-call to get up close and personal with my health and my hormones.

At that time, I didn’t know that my wake-up-call would begin with the ancient health practice of Castor Oil Packs, but I’m so glad it did.

My friend and hormone balancing fitness expert, Debra Atkinson, CEO of Flipping 50, has a solution for women who are craving movement, just like I was. Her 12-week STRONGER online programs are designed for women in perimenopause, menopause and beyond.

Similar to the Castor Oil Pack, Debra’s program was made for you and is a gentle approach to support hormone balancing, which is what I love most about it.

How Castor Oil Packs support hormone balancing and estrogen dominance

1. Castor Oil Packs Relieve Constipation.

Our stools are how we naturally eliminate food waste, bacteria, toxins and hormones. However, estrogen dominance is a very common issue for women and can actually cause constipation1. That was me, constipated and overloaded with estrogen.

You see, a healthy balance of progesterone and estrogen are required for smooth-moving bowels. So, it makes sense that too much estrogen makes you constipated2, right?

I truly thought my constipation was unbeatable until I tried the Castor Oil Pack. It’s been shown to gently relieve constipation3 and regulate the bowels through improvement of smooth muscle function of the intestines4.

This is extremely important for estrogen dominance because you must eliminate the excess hormones in order to heal and rebalance.

It’s kind of like a gentle massage for your intestines, but a gentle massage that can support good flow and hormone balancing. Sounds like a dream, don’t you think?

Queen of the Thrones solutions for digestive health

2. Castor Oil Packs support Cleansing and Detox.

Cleansing is like a conveyor belt that keeps the body in flow. So, the conveyor belt must be working well in order to balance the dominance of estrogen.

My conveyor belt most definitely wasn’t working, it was almost like the belt was at a standstill. You see, without the Castor Oil Pack my conveyor belt was all backed up and there was an overload of estrogen that had nowhere to go (except to stay in my body).

The liver is pretty much the control system for the conveyor belt, so it has to be functioning well for our hormones to be in harmony with each other. So, my Castor Oil Pack helped restore the flow and was a support to my liver. Isn’t that amazing?

Just like how the Castor Oil gently massages your intestines, it also acts as a gentle repair system for your liver’s cleansing conveyor belt.

3. Castor Oil Packs Naturally Shift you into a Relaxed State.

The problem in our modern world is that all of us are in a constant state of stress, would you agree?

You see, rest and relaxation takes practice, but the Castor Oil Pack gives your body the chance to practice over and over again.

Take it from me, I didn’t know what it was to feel relaxed. I was so out of practice, but that all changed as soon as I put the pack on my body. This is because the Castor Oil Pack on the skin activates the relaxed, ‘parasympathetic’ state5 and stimulates our feel-good hormones, dopamine6 and oxytocin7.

Oxytocin also lowers stress and balances blood pressure8, leading to healthy levels of progesterone for great bowel movements! You see, the more we’re able to release oxytocin and de-stress, the easier it is for our body to naturally boost progesterone (because progesterone is high when stress hormone levels are low). It’s a fine balance and is what connects regular bowel movements, liver cleansing, and relaxation.

Cleansing and Detox with Queen of The Thrones Castor Oil Packs for better health

For me, shifting into the relaxed state naturally not only made my body know what it is to be in flow, but also created a need to move my body. I started craving exercise, which was a refreshing shift for me since there was a time when I couldn’t even get out of my bed.

Queen of the Thrones Castor Oil Packs Naturally Shift you into a Relaxed State

You see, the act of resting and releasing my feel-good hormones with my Castor Oil Pack resulted in my body having the energy it needed to re-introduce gentle movement.

Years ago, when I heard the words ‘estrogen dominance’ it startled me and my natural instinct was to fight it. So, be gentle with yourself if you’re feeling like your hormones are out of whack and know that you’re not alone in feeling this way.

Cleansing and Detox with Queen of The Thrones Castor Oil Packs to support your hormones balance

Kind of like the story of the Sword and the Stone, the key wasn’t to fight with aggression, it was to find a gentle approach so that I could work with my body to rebalance my hormones.

So you’ve probably heard about cleanses, right? When I first heard about cleansing I thought it was just a fad for Hollywood folks like Gwyneth Paltrow. After delving into the bodies’ role in cleansing, I soon realized that cleansing isn’t just about one-off trends and diet plans, it’s actually about our bodies’ ability to naturally eliminate waste.

Cleansing is basically removing the bad stuff to make room for the good stuff!

Although your body is supposed to know how to naturally cleanse, there are a few obstacles that get in the way and can easily become the norm in your day to day life:

  1. You’re so constipated, you could burst.
  2. Your lymphatic system is stuck & it feels like your body is as congested as a stuffy nose.
  3. Your sleep-wake cycle is out of whack.
  4. Stress keeps growing & taking up too much space in your body.

Do any of these sound like you? You’re not alone! Would you love to know how to support your body so you can free yourself from your everyday obstacles and cleanse naturally?

You’re in the right place because there’s 4 easy self-care tips for you to get you started so you can be on your way to waking up like new! Are you ready?

1. Cleanse and detox with Castor Oil Packs through pooping

Cleanse and detox with Queen of the Thrones Castor Oil Packs through pooping.

Do you wake up feeling constipated and bloated in the morning, making you feel heavy, nauseous and dull? More than just being uncomfortable, being constipated also means that our stools are sitting in the body, adding unwanted pollution to your body.

You see, our #1 cleansing process of the body is through the good ‘ol #2. Yes! Through your bowel movements. It’s one of your bodies’ main ways of getting rid of the junk.

Just like how dogs poop after they eat 2-3 times per day, it makes sense that you should go to the bathroom every day too. What goes in must come out, right?

That’s when the Castor Oil Pack for Liver comes in to save the day. Studies have shown that Castor Oil Pack over the liver helps to relieve constipation1 and improves the smooth muscle function of the digestive tract, so you eliminate all the junk that’s been sitting in your body and start having regular healthy bowel movements.

You see, Castor Oil acts as a natural anti-inflammatory2 and helps your gut to relax. Amazing, right?

2. Unclog your lymphatic system with dry brushing

You see, when your lymphatic system is clogged up like your hair-filled shower drain, you can’t cleanse and then…

  • You feel heavy and dull because your body’s fluids are unbalanced.
  • You have too much bad bacteria, making you feel like you just came off the tilt-o-whirl. Does this sound like you?

Well, the simple self-care ritual of dry brushing is an easy way for you to support your body so you can…

  • Reduce inflammation that’s taking up space in your body.
  • Increase circulation so you can truly reconnect to your body.
  • The best part? You’ll know how to engage your lymphatic system and organs so you can help your body cleanse naturally.

Amazing, right?!

Even better, dry brushing paired with your Castor Oil Pack is kind of like a water hose you need to keep your inflammation fire from coming back because Castor Oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory, making it excellent for reducing core inflammation, pain and discomfort so you can wake up feeling like new.

3. Reset your sleep-wake cycle & cleanse while you sleep

You might be wondering what sleeping has to do with cleansing, right? Well, it has a lot to do with it because you actually cleanse while you’re asleep because that’s when your nervous system is the most calm.

You see, my friend, cleansing naturally happens in deep restorative sleep and is how the body naturally heals. That’s why you sleep when you’re sick, so your body can heal. Makes sense, right?

Now, maybe you can’t even remember the last time you had a truly restful night’s sleep because…

Reset your sleep-wake cycle & cleanse while you sleep with Queen of the Thrones Lymphatic Dry Brush
  • You toss and turn all night like a child somersaulting down a hill.
  • You wake up every few hours like a Pop Tart jumping out of your toaster.
  • You’re so tired in the morning, like you just ran a marathon, is this you?

Can you relate? Well, it sounds like your body isn’t getting enough quality rest to help you cleanse. And a sleep mask can help.

You’re probably thinking: a simple sleep mask, really? Seems too good to be true.

This isn’t any old sleep mask, this is a white circadian Castor Oil Eye Compress. You see, it darkens the night when you’re going to sleep and because it’s white, it lets the night in naturally when it’s time to wake up.

The best part? It balances your natural day and night hormonal cycles and keeps your body in flow while you’re cleansing.

Not sure where you can get an Eye Compress? Well, I’ve got you covered with your new Castor Oil Eye Compress Kit.

Would you love to know how Castor Oil Packs and an Eye Compress can help you sleep better?

4. Stress less with your new self-care cleansing tools

Stress less with your new self-care Queen of the Thrones cleansing tools.

So, how can you cleanse amid stress? The answer is simple: you must practice resting. Stay with me here.

All of your body’s cleansing functions are NATURALLY turned ON in the relaxed state, which makes sense when you think about your 3 new self-care tools. Need a refresher?

Diastasis Recti and Constipation | Two Common Postpartum Body Challenges

Queen of the Thrones® explains how constipation cause inflamed belly

There are two things that I will never forget about the early hours after giving birth to my first son Diastasis Recti and Constipation.

I remember how disconnected my upper body felt from my lower body when I got up to go to the bathroom for the first time after my baby entered the world.  I felt like I had to hold myself together.

What was a fairly tight compact part of my body, was now a vacant space with very little tone.  The muscles in my abdominal wall had stretched well beyond their normal, optimal length and the rectus muscles (think 6 pack) had also moved away from their midline position – a condition known as diastasis recti.

As I sat down to pee, I had a sudden panic attack knowing that at some point I was also going to have to poop!

The thought of that first bowel movement after giving birth is almost scarier than the birth itself! This fear coupled with other influences I will elaborate on below, can contribute to postpartum constipation.

Diastasis Recti and constipation are very common and with the right information, can be very well managed and don’t have to be a big deal in the early postpartum period or beyond.  Let’s look first at constipation.

Postpartum Constipation

Once the baby is born, we as parents start to diligently record every feed and every poop our baby makes.  What no one really thinks about is that the new mom would benefit from having someone do the same for her. Nutrition is a key element of postpartum healing and can play a huge role in healing and nourishing the body as well as managing bowel movements therefore reducing the likelihood of constipation.

Labour typically slows down the digestive system, especially if you had an epidural and it can take a few days to get back on track.  Other things that can influence the digestive system in the early weeks postpartum are pain medications, iron supplementation and fear of pooping.

A lot happens in the pelvis and to the vagina, perineum and anus – things like tearing, stitches, tenderness and hemorrhoids.  The thought of anything else passing through can be a bit stressful to say the least. Stress activates the ‘fight or flight’ response which reduces blood flow to the digestive system and can contribute to constipation.

From a Chinese medicine perspective the first system that needs to be addressed in postpartum healing is the digestive system.  The digestive system is responsible for transforming food into blood and energy and if digestion is off, then the body will not benefit from the food consumed and therefore not build the blood and energy needed for healing.

Mother Roasting

It is also believed in Chinese Medicine that the body has ‘opened’ during pregnancy and birth and is therefore susceptible to ‘wind’ or ‘cold’.  New mothers have a 30 day period of “sitting in” where the mother does not go out and is instead served warm soups, stews, and broths that are easy to digest.

Korea has a 100 day period where the mother and child do not leave the home. In Japan, the mother and baby stay at the mother’s parent’s home for some pampering and one-on-one time with the baby. India and African nations include traditions of 10-40 day isolations where additional support is provided including massage, childcare and food preparation.

Other practices from places like Malaysia include belly binding and hot stones on the abdomen to help cleanse it, close it and heal it.

These practices not only allow the body time to recover from the trauma of giving birth but provide a period of mental rest that I firmly believe creates a solid foundation for mom and baby from day one.

According with Queen of the Thrones® the digestive system gets stressed by constipation
Belly wrapping support the pelvis and abdominal wall

The belief of the need to ‘close’ the body is justified.  Diastasis Recti has been shown to happen to 100% of women in the third trimester and the gap between the muscles doesn’t always return to its pre-pregnancy state, nor does the connective tissue naturally regain its supportive tensioning role in the core. The muscles in the pelvic floor have also stretched and in some cases have been cut or torn which can contribute to challenges with core control and continence.

Belly wrapping or belly binding aims to provide temporary compression and support to the pelvis and abdominal wall in the early weeks postpartum when the muscles are temporarily hindered in their ability to contribute to core control.

The muscles and connective tissue in the abdominal wall and pelvis are key with regards to stability and control in our inner core but so are the bones and joints. In the pelvis, the shape of the bones provides what is called ‘form closure’ while the muscles, ligaments and connective tissue contribute to what is called ‘force closure’. During pregnancy biomechanical changes occur in the body which can reduce the effectiveness of both form and force closure such as;

  • Altered posture and load bearing;
  • Altered muscle length in the pelvic floor and abdomen (both longer and shorter) which results in reduced ability for muscle force production;
  • The role of relaxing and progesterone contribute to joint laxity and when the ligaments are lax it affects the force closure.
  • The abdominal muscles are stretched to allow space for the enlarging uterus, which can lead to loss of muscle tone and strength in the abdominal region and a compromised ability to produce tension in the thoracolumbar fascia, resulting in reduced force closure in the pelvis;
  • Diastasis recti is a distortion in the abdominal wall and can impair the function of the muscles including their role in posture and pelvic stability;
  • The transversus abdominis, multifidus, diaphragm and the pelvic floor are all anticipatory muscles of the core and are required for force closure in the pelvis – all are affected by posture and alignment changes in pregnancy
  • Intra-abdominal pressure – altered mechanics and alignment mean management of intra-abdominal pressure will change

The benfits of Castor Oil include these three main functions:nutrient-rich, pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory.

Add a Fascia Massage Roller to these benefitsand you’ve now super boosted these functions.

You see, combining Castor Oil to your Fascia Massage Roller practice helps to massage the tight tissues and adhesions found along energetic pathways that can become blocked by physical or emotional trauma.

And the benefits of this practice are:

  • Breaking down of scar tissue from injury, cesarean section, surgery, and/or endometriosis
  • Fade stretch marks from weight gain or postpartum
  • Fascia release for sore muscles and tight IT bands
  • Lymphatic drainage and circulation
  • Support smoothing out cellulite

Sounds amazing, right?

Intra-Abdominal Pressure

We can’t talk about postpartum recovery and wrapping without talking about intra-abdominal pressure.

Intra-abdominal pressure is defined as the pressure within the abdominal cavity.  It is part of our core stability system.  We need some, but not too much and we need an ability to manage the varying pressures throughout the day. When we take a breath in, the diaphragm descends and there is a compression action on the abdominal contents which acts to stabilize the pelvis and spine.  We can have too much pressure such as a Valsalva maneuverer which is an inhale, then breath hold while bearing down.  This often results in a distended abdomen and can place pressure on the pelvic organs as well.

The reverse can also be seen in a technique called “hypopressives” which decreases intra-abdominal pressure and results in a hollowing or concavity of the abdomen.  A reliance on one may result in a compromised ability to manage changes in intra-abdominal pressure such as during lifting or exercise.

Crunches were given a bad rap because they cause an increase in intra-abdominal pressure but a study found that activities like standing up from a chair or downward dog pose in yoga actually created equal or greater increases in intra-abdominal pressure which suggests that managing intra-abdominal pressure is more about HOW a person performs a movement or exercise rather than the exercise itself.

Wrapping is often considered to be a practice that increases intra-abdominal pressure and it can when done incorrectly.  Wrapping is ideally done to temporarily contribute to force closure in the pelvis with some gentle hugging of the abdominal wall.

Many mistakenly wrap only the waist and wrap very tightly in hopes that it will help heal the gap between the abdominals (diastasis recti).  Instead it increases intra-abdominal pressure, it interferes with digestion and it restricts optimal breathing patterns which can prevent healing of the abdominal wall and pelvic floor and can also contribute to constipation.

My recommendations for postpartum recovery include principles that support rest and belly wrapping in the early weeks postpartum, core retraining with pelvic floor initiated movements, a balance between hyper and hypopressive exercise and nutrition that is based on the traditional practices of mother roasting to support optimal digestion.

National Papaya & Body Confidence Month

September is National Papaya Awareness Month and in case you’re thinking this is just another blog about the health benefits of a fruit, it’s not.

Get ready to expand your mind about this tropical fruit that looks like a squash but has a bright internal orange color that just screams out beta carotene! (That same stuff you get in orange carrots) and seeds that look like slimy alien fish eggs, but have benefits that are, dare I say it, out of this world!!

Stay tuned for that goodness, but this is also going to give you a whole new perspective on a movement having to do with @thebirdspapaya that I am loving and want to help support.  Her movement is changing how you, me and we see the world.

Honor the papaya, like the birds do, read ‘till the end and share with all of your sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers!

Papayas Are For The Birds

Some people don’t like papayas and believe that they are solely for the birds.  As they blossom in tropical trees much as the banana does, these fruits of the tropics are well known to get pecked as they’re one of the favorite foods of parrots.

Bird love papayas because they are a superfood.  They provide the body with ample nutrients with a taste so divine – kind of like a mix between that fatty feeling you get in your mouth with avocados and sweet juiciness like a watermelon.

With high levels of healthy fats, protein, magnesium, fiber, calcium, and phosphorus, they pack a nutritional punch unrivaled by other fruits.

Do The Health Benefits Translate To Humans?

Birds even eat the seeds because, in nature, the seeds are a well-known anti-parasitic and have been studied for reducing intestinal parasitosis in humans.  In fact, they have been studied in Africa as an effective tool for mass de-worming programs for children, by adding the seeds to porridge in schools.  They are also an excellent source of the digestive enzyme, papain.

Queen of the Thrones recommends to eat Papaya for healthy digestion

All of this makes the papaya a perfect partner to help you poo too!  You all know how much I talk about the importance of pooping so this is just another reason the birds and I are so in love with the papaya!

Of course, papaya is great for humans too, and there are a few ways that I encourage people to eat them that help not only with pooping but also with your digestion.

How Do You Like Your Papayas?

Most people eat papaya on its own, in a papaya salad, smoothies or simply cut up with tart lime juice and salt to smooth it all down.  They are so delicious this way.  I like to add the seeds into my smoothies to help with digestion as well.

But there is another way I like them because when speaking of improving digestion we first must understand exactly what digestion is.

Defining Our Digestion

Digestion is the most important physiological function that goes on in our body.  We must take in nourishment, utilize it, then get rid of what no longer is needed.  However, it isn’t only the ability to digest, absorb and eliminate food.  There is also a very emotional energy connected to digestion.

Whether or not you digest well, depends not only on the types of foods you are eating.  Whether they are “healthy” I put this in quotations because healthy food choices depend on the individual.  Remember, a superfood for one can be a poison for another.  The way foods are combined, and the time of day they are eaten are also big factors.  These aspects all matter, but what matters more than anything is this simple fact that isn’t often talked about.

How we digest our food is symbolic of how we are digesting life.

How we are digesting the world.

Say these powerful words one more time with me – Digestion is how you are digesting your LIFE!!!!

How We Digest Life

Digestion is about taking something from the outside world, like food, and processing it so that it works for us.  But if what we intake, whether food or something else (stimulus like violent tv shows, judgments of other people, social images that make you feel less-than), goes against our true nature and our soul’s purpose, these external stimuli does our body no good and it will resist.  The sequelae is we will have problems with our digestion.  Acid reflux, gas, bloating, indigestion, constipation, and diarrhea to name just a few.

So many of us have an internal struggle going on within where we don’t accept ourselves for how we are naturally.  We work to constantly fix how we digest by taking digestive enzymes (like papain), supplements that coat the gut, and fiber to help us poo.

The Little Known Cause of Digestive Problems

But did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, your digestion problems are caused by elevated stress levels due to your inability to accept yourself, in the constant pursuit of achieving other people’s ideals of you?  Do you not think that inherently this is going to affect your digestion?

Of course, it does, no different than when you can’t poo (which symbolizes an inability to let go of emotions).  Or if you have diarrhea, it’s a sign of excess burden and stress in your life, and the need to force-quit out of situations.  It’s about being conscious of the messages that our body is telling us.  Getting in touch with our gut feelings, being conscious and confident in our bodies is the key!

Another Kind of Papaya

So where am I going with this?  Well, papayas are an excellent natural source of good stuff for our bodies.  I usually like my papayas with freshly squeezed lime juice and salt!

But beyond this, is another kind of papaya that I feel is so good for our heart, body, mind, and souls.  This special papaya can be found on Instagram at @thebirdspapaya.  I love her posts, her podcast @thepapayapodcast and her blog The birds Papaya because she is starting a movement to LOVE our bodies, to be confident, understanding and accepting of them wherever we are in our healing journeys.

Her story is real, it’s raw (like a papaya) and it is ripe and ready for picking!  I highly encourage you to follow her, because she is a leader in this amazing movement that I am literally addicted to.  Just like papayas!

She became a leader by accident, as she began by simply sharing her story of her 111 lbs of weight loss, relationship struggles, financial struggles and every other struggle of human experience in a totally honest and incredibly relatable way.  What truly struck a chord with me was her stories of being judged by others and judged by herself for not fitting the societal mold of ‘perfection’.  She generously shares her life experience as she paves the way for us all to think differently.  I’ve been following her for over a year and I have to say I think differently than I did before I met her.  She preaches how to show up in your life, and I’ve learned a lot about showing up in mine in my true skin.

So she, just like my hot yoga, hot pilates, healthy diet, mindset molding, soul meditation, Castor Oil Pack for Liver practice, gratitude practices and sleep hygiene, are all part of my daily practices that keep me expanding and inspired to do the work that I do.

What she has helped me to realize and connect to is that her, like my patients and like myself, have all experienced judgments (oftentimes from ourselves) to live up to the status quo.  To roll with the Jones’s, whoever they are.  To be part of the ‘cool people’, the ‘in-crowd’ or the popular clique, ugh feels just like high school and I’m so over that, finally.

Body Confidence Through Understanding

Her food for thought is all about a movement known as the body confidence or body positivity movement.  I really prefer confidence because the energy of that simply feels less judgemental.   I am vibing to her message because I feel what I do is so similar.  I want to empower people to be body confident by being conscious of what their body is telling them.  This can start with your poo, getting to understand the clues that it gives you about the state of your health.  And later we will delve deeper and deeper so that you have a vast understanding and love for yourself that allows you to own your throne, as I say.

The understanding that you are gifted by the divine with conscious thought, we are the only mammal with this ability!

Queen of the Thrones teaches you how to to cope digestive problems

This beautiful tool/gift that we have been given works for us only when we are focused on the present and in our hearts, taking all the signs and symptoms as blessings.  Yes, even the beautiful cellulite on your thighs.  I love that cottage cheese look so much.  Or your wrinkles, or how you go to the bathroom.  These are all signs to acknowledge and address in a way that is healthy and life-promoting for us so that we can live each moment showing up for ourselves and our loved ones, with the ability to digest our lives with ease and grace.

Inspiration Feeds the Soul

I feel it’s important for me to share who is inspiring me, because like I share what food is good for my body, A.K.A. papayas, more importantly, I want you to know what is feeding my soul.

So my dear friends as you dive into your journey of enjoying some lime-bathed, salt-sprinkled papaya, leave some for the birds too.  Join these movements with us.  You can do so by following on Instagram, subscribing to her podcast and sharing us with all those you love (wouldn’t it be nice if you loved everyone you know? You can – it’s simply a choice)!

You Have a Choice

Speaking of choice, don’t you think it’s high time you choose confidence and consciousness in who you are, why you are here, and bring on the gifts that we have been given so we can serve the whole world?

It’s time and it goes like this.  You either decide to be the designer of your destiny, by allowing stimulus that enlightens you, entertains you, helps you grow, helps you fall deeper and deeper in love with yourself every day no matter what type of package you come in, OR you choose to fall into the proverbial rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland, falling into your fate, losing who you really are and feeling like there is no hope.

Stop the digestive upset with food and how you are digesting the world. It’s papaya time!  Love and share this now!

The most frustrating part of having a hormone problem is that you often don’t get a diagnosis or confirmation of exactly what is wrong with you. This is because it depends on if you have REAL or RELATIVE estrogen dominance, or one of the other conditions that mimic it. If it’s REAL, you will get the confirmation you are looking for. But if its RELATIVE, watch out. You’ll be floating in “nothing’s wrong, it’s all in your head” land for a long time, as so many of us find ourselves doing.

So you go about living your life, feeling unwell and no one can tell you why. You go on living not realizing that you may be setting yourself up for a chronic autoimmune disease(s) or even cancer1. If you’re confused, that’s good, read on. Let’s clarify how your estrogen dominance, whichever one you may have, is draining your vitality and stopping you from living your best life and I’ll also show you how the Castor Oil Pack for Liver can be the first step to set your body in the right direction.

A Definition of Relative and Real

Relatives, I say? Yes our relatives, they can be an issue. But I’m not talking about that kind of relative.

Jokes aside, in medicine relative means something very different and indicates being in proper proportion or balance to something else in the body that works. Because it’s a relative problem, it doesn’t show up on laboratory tests.

Technically the levels are all within their individual normal ranges. However, compared to each other and in the proper body balance and harmony, they are not. These are often harder to give a label to because if they are diagnosed, they do so only after excluding all the other conditions that fall in the real category.

Real, on the other hand, is a quantifiable level that can be demonstrated on laboratory exams. You can see levels are out of range, and because of this, you can give it a label and a quick diagnosis. This often leads to faster treatment, only because you know exactly what you are dealing with.

Types of Estrogen Dominance

There are two types of scenarios in the female body that we can experience in regards to estrogen dominance. However, the symptoms are the same so the only way to differentiate is through labs.

What are the Symptoms of Estrogen Dominance?

Symptoms are the same whether you have a REAL or RELATIVE estrogen dominance. These are what is experienced most often:

  • Mood swings, anxiety & irritability
  • Headache, foggy brain
  • Bloating and bowel changes – predominantly constipation
  • Weight gain around hips and buttocks
  • Breast tenderness
  • Water retention
  • Uterine fibroids/ovarian cysts
  • Food cravings for sugar and carbohydrates (pasta and bread)
  • Changes in bleeding
  • Cold body temperature, fatigue
  • Hair loss, thinning eyebrows and eyelashes

What are the Causes of Real Estrogen Dominance?

When you have REAL estrogen dominance you are the lucky one. You actually do have very high levels of estrogen (although who am I kidding, that isn’t lucky, it’s downright dangerous). These can be tested by conventional labs or by a functional lab such as the Dutch Hormone Test, which gives the most complete information about what is happening in the body and HOW it is processing hormones. If you’ve got the REAL deal, here are the most common reasons why you are experiencing a dangerously high level of estrogen:

1. You store your food in plastic – You purchase and eat canned goods or food that’s been stored in plastic, which can contain endocrine-disrupting bisphenol A (BPA)2 and other not-yet-notorious chemicals. These supply your body with xenoestrogens that leach from plastic and other sources. These mimic our bodies’ natural estrogen, causing issues. There could be other problems because these are, in essence, pieces of plastic in our bodies and the research at this point isn’t completely clear on the long term side effects, but I have an idea, it’s not good. STRESSFUL on the system. (Side Note: NEVER purchase oils in plastic! Oils are well known to absorb plastics and chemicals from their containers, this is also important when we talk about Castor Oil Packs later on because you do not ever want your Castor Oil to be bottled in plastic. Oils should ALWAYS BE IN GLASS!)

2. Water supply – City water has been said to contain negligible traces of the birth control pill with little to no effect on human health3. That being said, it is still ending up in rivers and streams and affecting the water supply4. The remnants of pharmaceuticals end up in the water supply5 and we consume them through the food chain as our fish, fowl, and game drink the water in the rivers. STRESSFUL on the system.

 3. Prescription sourcesof estrogens – If you are taking the birth control pill or hormone replacement therapy, this adds to your estrogenic load. These are all sources of estrogen that accumulate in your body, upsetting the natural balance.  STRESSFUL on the system.

 4. Carrying too much body fat – Fat produces estrogen. Fat utilizes too much of your nutrients and antioxidants, leading to depletion. Starvation in a land of plenty. STRESSFUL on the system.

 5. Unbalanced microbiome – Where increased bad microbes exist, creating an environment that is pro-estrogen dominant6, known as the estrobiome. STRESSFUL on the system.

 6. Inflammation – Inflammatory molecules may mimic estrogen in our systems and fuel estrogen dominance. In effect, inflammation enhances the effect of estrogen in our bodies. STRESSFUL on the system.

 The unifying factor – STRESS!

According to Queen of the Thrones plastic containers release toxic materials

What are the Causes of Relative Estrogen Dominance?

The other side of the coin is where your progesterone is so low, RELATIVE to your level of estrogen, that estrogen acts in your body as though it is super high but it isn’t. It’s just that your progesterone is in the gutter, super low. What are the most common reasons why this happens?

1. Your elevated stress hormone – Cortisol requires the same raw product as does progesterone. If you’ve been dealing with a lot of stress, you will need more raw product to produce cortisol for you to be able to cope and manage. STRESSFUL on the system.

2. Your body compensates – So it will steal from Peter to pay Paul. Preferring to save you from a crisis, your body creates the stress hormone cortisol from the same raw material that it makes progesterone from. This way it can deal with the immediate stressor. STRESSFUL on the system.

3. Progesterone is optional to your body – Progesterone is a hormone of fertility, needed to procreate. Being fertile is the last thing your body cares about when you are under stress. Progesterone also acts as a diuretic, helping to avoid water retention, ensuring good bowel movements and keeping the thyroid balanced. So interesting, no wonder you don’t feel that good when you are stressed! STRESSFUL on the system.

The common denominator again – STRESS!

Queen of the Thrones® explains why Stress is one of the most common causes of Estrogen Dominance

Our Bodies in Balance – The Ecosystem

We are not separate from our organ systems and everything must work like a fine-tuned orchestra. Estrogen dominance demonstrates observable patterns and associations to other conditions, especially thyroid conditions such as hypothyroid and autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. To note, many of the symptoms of estrogen dominance mimic thyroid conditions to a tee. Is this a coincidence? I think not.

High Estrogen Causing Low Thyroid

With REAL or RELATIVE estrogen dominance, it is highly likely that you will simultaneously have a hypothyroid condition. Actually, in my practice, I have noted this to be the case in almost all of my patients, with a few outliers. On labs, a telltale sign is low iron (ferritin) and low B12. There are very few outliers.

This pattern goes hand in hand for the very simple reason that progesterone helps to support healthy thyroid function and estrogen levels. Stress knocks out progesterone. STRESSFUL on the system.

In addition, because your body is overwhelmed with excess relative or real estrogen hormone, it will use up vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to alkalinize and cleanse the excess estrogens out.

These are the same vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are needed to support thyroid health, namely zinc, selenium, magnesium, and glutathione. One of the antibody thyroid tests, anti-thyroid peroxidase, can be used as a measure of glutathione in the system along with magnesium. Low magnesium, low glutathione.

If you’re using them up in one place, you’re going to become deficient somewhere else. It’s a vicious repeating cycle and one that I’m going to show you how to reset.

Which Came First? Estrogen Dominance or Hypothyroid?

You may be wondering, which came first, the estrogen dominance or hypothyroid? That’s exactly like asking me if the chicken or the egg came first. It’s very hard to say because there is a considerable amount of overlap. One could easily cause the other and we must not forget that there are other systems involved, including the gut, the microbiome and inflammatory processes occurring in the body.

I look at it as a garden. We need to make sure the ingredients going in are good, what needs to come out is coming out, and that we love it and are peaceful and content with the process.

Support Your Body Ecosystem/Terrain to Optimize Healing

So you see the predicament. This means that if we are to work through it, we have to be extremely strategic. It’s not only about fixing one thing but working on the whole. Is there a way to help balance and support the regulatory systems of the body?

Fortunately, there is and it is the most simple and inexpensive treatment out there. It is legendary as goddesses, gurus, and queens used this treatment since before biblical times. It stands out among other treatments because it doesn’t just have one mechanism of action on the body, it has a totally comprehensive and multi-faceted reach on all regulatory systems of the body. What is this treatment? It’s the sacred Castor Oil Pack for Liver of course!

Castor Oil Packs

Queen of the Thrones® Castor Oil Packs is the best tool to maintain a healthy balance of estrogen levels

To reset your estrogen, your game plan shouldn’t be fully to annihilate it. You want it, after all, it keeps you young. It keeps your skin glowing and is responsible for a variety of beneficial processes in the body. However, you want it to be in balance with your progesterone. Therefore your strategies must accomplish 5 very important goals:

  1. Maintain a healthy balance of your stress hormone, cortisol, and encourage more feel-good hormones
  2. Promote high antioxidants levels and reset your natural cleansing mechanisms
  3. Keep your bowels flowing – digestion, absorption and elimination working properly
  4. Reduce inflammation and increase alkalinization
  5. Support your microbiome and break down unhealthy biofilm

How do Castor Oil Packs Help to Reset Estrogen Dominance?

Castor Oil Packs Reduce Stress.

The problem in our modern world is that all of us are in a constant state of stress. Since cortisol is made out of the same product as progesterone, the more stressed you are, the less progesterone your body will be able to produce. It is a vicious cycle, so it’s incredibly important to do everything you can to reduce stress in your body.

When your body is in a relaxed state, your immune system8 is optimized and your digestive process is flawless. When you’re stressed, your gut can become ‘leaky’, meaning the gap junctions are broken and food particles that are too large can enter your bloodstream and cause havoc all over the body9 10 11.

When you use the pack, the soft compression of the pack on the skin helps to promote your feel-good hormone, oxytocin12. The limbic area (aka the area responsible for emotion) of the brain is stimulated and flooded with another feel-good neurotransmitter, dopamine13.

The Castor Oil Pack for Liver harnesses the healing powers of nature that support our body’s natural healing mechanisms. The key to having this treatment be effective is PRACTICE. I have my own take on the old saying, “Practice makes perfect”. But hey no one is perfect! More accurately, “Practice makes PROGRESS”. This is why it’s best to wear your pack for at least 1 hour each day, or ideally overnight.

Castor Oil Packs Help to Reset Your Cleansing Mechanisms.

To balance the dominance of estrogen in the body, cleansing processes must be working well. There is an enzyme known as beta-glucuronidase that deconjugates estrogens, allowing them to recirculate throughout the body. It has been shown to be elevated in estrogen dominance14.

Castor Oil improves levels of your body’s powerhouse detox molecule, glutathione15. Glutathione gets rid excess estrogens, toxins, and by-products of plastics like BPA. Remember it’s best to STAY AWAY from carrying food and drink in plastic!

Castor Oil Packs are typically worn over the liver because they exert a powerful anti-inflammatory effect that supports its function – and it’s responsible for over 200 bodily functions! The packs have even been shown to reduce cholesterol levels and improve liver enzymes16.

Castor Oil Packs Help to Reduce Inflammation.

When you are dealing with estrogen dominance, the last thing you want in your body is inflammation as it just feeds the imbalance even more. Castor Oil Packs have been shown to help to reduce inflammation17.

Most of the inflammation in our body is present in the intestines and the gut, since they are exposed to the outside world via the food we intake and the different bugs that enter our bodies18.

When we can calm this core inflammation, we relieve bloating, it helps us get a flat tummy and it supports balancing out our hormones. Now, remember, practice makes progress, and it’s with daily practice that you will feel better.

Castor Oil Packs Help to Relieve Constipation.

If you have estrogen dominance, chances are you are probably backed up. When you can’t eliminate waste, the toxins, excess hormones and bad bacteria that it contains can recirculate the body.

The amazing thing about Castor Oil Packs is that they have been shown to relieve constipation just as effectively as laxatives, but without the harsh urgency to run to the bathroom19. This is extremely important for estrogen dominance because you must eliminate the excess hormones in order to heal and rebalance.

Castor Oil Packs Improve your Microbiome.

Did you know that as women, we have a specific set of bacteria in our bodies responsible for metabolizing estrogen? It even has a special name – the estrobiome.

When there is an imbalance of bad bacteria, as I call them conbiotics™, they will do everything that can to keep themselves alive and to maintain their home inside your gut. They have the ability to create a protective barrier of sludge known as biofilm, which makes it very difficult for us to kill them and get them out of our body temples.

Amazingly, Queen of the Thrones® Organic Castor Oil has the ability to break down this biofilm, which has proven very difficult to do without the use of pharmaceuticals.20 21 22 23
